My Pet Mercury

Yesterday afternoon, I was looking at some cobwebs in my garden. I was poking all of them with a toothpick to see if any spiders were living in the cobwebs. If I poke the web, the spider will come out as it knows its prey by sensing the vibration on the web.

I touched 5 cobwebs but only 1 cobweb contained a spider. The spider was so clumsy it didn't even know I dropped a piece of a hot dog and an ant on the web(the sun must have cooked his brain.) The real answer was that both items were not moving. Spiders count on the vibration in order to detect a bug.

I started to walk home, but then I saw another cobweb on a bush in the front porch. I told my brother to find a bug. He and my mom found a ladybug in a bush. I dropped it on the web using a tweezer. A huge spider came out. I named it Mercury for it's speed and brown color.

Mercury hit the ladybug and then parylyzed it. It retreated for a while. Then I fed it a grasshopper and a mollusk. It carried away the mollusk and ladybug. It must like shelled insects a lot.

I'm planning to feed it every day and observe its behavior. Now, what am I going to feed Mercury next???
